Government of Aruba approves land for new mental health clinic

Fundación Mama Ties and Fundación Salud Mental Respaldo welcome an important milestone in the development of Aruba’s new mental health clinic, following the Government of Aruba’s approval of land allocation for the project.

The announcement was made on Friday afternoon by Aruba’s Minister of Infrastructure, together with Minister of Public Health Melvin Wyatt-Ras, marking a significant step forward in the shared ambition to strengthen mental healthcare on the island.

Fundacion Mama Ties and Respaldo mark the approval of land for Aruba’s new mental health clinic alongside the Ministers of Infrastructure and Public Health.

The new clinic will be developed by Fundación Salud Mental Respaldo in collaboration with Fundación Mama Ties, with the goal of creating a modern, purpose-built facility that provides high-quality mental health services to Aruba’s community.

Mental health challenges affect people and families across the world, and Aruba is no exception. Ensuring that those who need professional care have access to an appropriate, central and supportive environment is therefore an important priority for the island.

The allocation of land provides the future clinic with a physical foundation from which the project can continue to move forward. The ambition is to create a facility that responds to the needs of patients, families and healthcare professionals while supporting a more modern and sustainable approach to mental healthcare in Aruba.

The Minister also acknowledged the collective effort behind this milestone, recognizing the contributions of DIP, DOW, Fundación Salud Mental Respaldo, Fundación Mama Ties, the Department of Public Health and the teams involved in progressing the initiative.
