Curaçao | September 2026 — Fundacion Mama Ties and Curaçao-based Fundashon Bon Intenshon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare and wellbeing across the Dutch Caribbean.

The partnership reflects a shared belief that strong and accessible healthcare is fundamental to the wellbeing of communities across the islands. Both foundations have supported initiatives that address different healthcare needs, ranging from mental health and preventative care to elderly care and support for vulnerable members of the community.

Fundashon Bon Intenshon brings decades of philanthropic experience in Curaçao, while Fundacion Mama Ties has been actively supporting healthcare and social initiatives in Aruba.

Under the agreement, the foundations will explore opportunities to improve access to healthcare, strengthen healthcare services and facilities, support care for the elderly and people living with conditions such as dementia, advance mental health services, and contribute to prevention and community-based care.

Cooperation may include funding, expertise, project development, network-building and knowledge-sharing, with the aim of supporting sustainable improvements in the quality and accessibility of care across the islands.

Building on a long tradition of philanthropy

Fundashon Bon Intenshon has a longstanding philanthropic track record in Curaçao, supporting projects that contribute to the island’s healthcare, social and cultural development.

Behind the foundation is Curaçao businessman and philanthropist Gregory Elias, who has supported cultural and social initiatives for decades. Through Fundashon Bon Intenshon, this commitment has extended across healthcare, education, youth, sports, culture and community welfare.

The collaboration brings together the experience, networks and resources of both foundations, while recognizing that healthcare needs extend across different stages of life and different forms of care, from mental health and prevention to elderly and dementia care.

Strengthening healthcare connections across the islands

The MOU provides a flexible framework for both foundations to identify and evaluate healthcare and wellbeing projects together, based on local need, potential social impact, feasibility, governance and long-term sustainability.

Across the Dutch Caribbean, healthcare organizations and communities face a range of challenges, including access to appropriate care, availability of qualified professionals, adequate facilities, an ageing population, mental health needs and the growing demand for long-term and specialized care.

By strengthening connections between organizations, professionals, expertise and philanthropic resources across the islands, the partnership aims to support local capacity and contribute to sustainable solutions that improve both quality of care and quality of life.

The collaboration will initially identify opportunities where the combined experience and resources of both foundations can make a meaningful difference, while establishing a framework for broader cooperation across the Dutch Caribbean over time.

Fundacion Mama Ties and Fundashon Bon Intenshon look forward to developing the partnership pragmatically and supporting initiatives that contribute to stronger healthcare, better access to care and healthier, more resilient communities throughout the Dutch Caribbean.
